The Placebo Effect

You’ve all heard of the Placebo effect. If you take something with no know therapeutic value, but you believe will help you, you generally feel better. But this video points out some interesting facts that I was unaware of, such as the strength of the placebo effect and how it varies depending on presentation (larger and shiner are always the best option), and also the fact that you can become dependent on placebos. People have actually exhibited withdrawal symptoms after being taken off them. Watch the fascinating video to find out more! #placebo

FINALLY! Episode 2 w/Mike Stenger is up, yo

(thanks a heap, YouTube, for being pretty much OFF line for uploads much of last night—or at least AT THE TIME BJ wanted to upload it)!

It’s our biggest (maybe even our best) video in that, the size of it was rendered to be lots less tiny than those of the past (forgive me, I’m new at this video editing stuff). Plus, it’s the first show we recorded using Hangouts with Extras (which, if you haven’t checked out by now…you should get ON IT).

Anyhoo… the show was a great one, we had a coffee-slurpin’ good time and Mike was an awesome guest. Now we’re proud to share the results of the show w/everyone on G+!

Hi! My name is Ebby and I’m an engineer on the Google+ Sharing team.

One of my favorite parts about Google+ is how circles help me control who I share things with. And if I want to go a step further, I can do things like disable comments, or lock my post to make sure no one reshares it.

We’ve heard from many of you that you want these disable and lock options before you share, not after. So today I’m happy to say that we’re doing exactly that. Let me show you how it works.

Say I want to share this picture from my friend’s party. As usual, I choose the circles I want to share with. But as I hover over the sharebox, you’ll notice I can now disable comments and lock the post — before sharing to the Stream.

We hope these features help you feel even more secure about sharing on Google+. We’ll keep listening, and rolling out more improvements in the coming weeks and months, so let us know what you think!
