I can’t decide if it’s yet another scare tactic or something to not worry about.  Dateline NBC’s website has a report on E.coli bacteria found in bagged lettuce.  3 different people in Minnesota contracted E.coli and were gravely ill, after having eaten lettuce from a bag!

Well if this isn’t proof positive that people should just grow their own veggies in their own yards and wash it and cut it themselves, then I don’t know what is.

The show should just change its name to Nightmareline.

Then today on Oprah they had a health expert on the show talking about pandemic in America and the possibility of tami flu and Asian flu, among other strains, and how we cannot possibly be prepared, as a country to face it.  We’d literally have to start stocking up on drugs, toiletries, household supplies, food, and water now, and make sure you have anough for a couple months, and just not go anywhere!

Are all these people just trying to scare us, or do we really need to worry this badly?

Can’t we just wash the lettuce, wash our hands and call it a day?  No, not according to them!  The report at Dateline indicated that if the E.coli bacteria came about because of animal or bird droppings in the fields, then chances are high the lettuce grew from the contaminated soil and no amount of washing would help.  The flu expert said no matter how much you wash your hands, wear face masks, etc. these things are bound to happen and are air borne!

I’m locking the door and not going anywhere.  Especially not to buy lettuce!

Same day, different year..
