Useful Circle Maintenance Tips Regarding G+ Contacts
Every person you’ve ever circled / interacted with via e-mail is saved in your G-mail contacts list under “Other Contacts.” After a few months of use & a lot of G+ interaction, you may notice the “Other Contacts” number to be quite high.
Now before you go and clear them be very careful. If you select all- delete you will more than likely remove EVERYONE from your circles. Your friends on G+ are mixed in! (unless you’ve already added them to your main contacts. The same goes for all of the e-mails entered to add people to your G+ chat.
I went through my list manually the other day and cleared out all the old contacts (more specifically the e-mails I’ve sent from years past) so I won’t run into this problem in the future. However, it didn’t really help much on the suggested users front. (I initially did this so I can stop getting the same damn suggested users over & over)
To clear out the old “Other Contacts” efficiently, (or the quickest way I knew how to do it) I used two computer screens, one showing my complete list of people I have circled in Google+ sorted by first name. Then pull up your the area in your G-mail pictured below. I literally went through each person I had circled manually and had to select each one and move to “My Contacts.” I know it’s tedious, but it’s a nice feeling to know that I won’t have old random e-mails included in the pool of Suggested Users. Obviously the smaller amount of people you have circled the easier this is, but be careful.
