Interesting topic for discussion. So as I understand it, in states where it is illegal to record audio of law enforcement without their consent, is it legal for me to record only video of them? Or get audio with their consent, obviously.

Wow. I was truly shocked to see this. In some states, if you record police (on duty, in public) with your cell phone, camera or other device, you can face felony charges. That means, if you saw someone being beaten up, harassed, etc., you technically shouldn’t record the event. I’m glad the guy in this story is standing up for himself. PS. I’m in no way related to the person (Mike Hanson) who put the story on YouTube
