A Wee bit o’ Irish Humor

A Wee bit o’ Irish Humor

Mrs. McGervey was walking down O’Connell Street in Dublin when she met up with Father O’Flaherty.

The Father said, “Top o’ the mornin’ to ye! Aren’t ye Missues McGervey, and didn’t I marry ye and yer hoosband 2 years ago?”

She replied, “Aye, that ye did, Father…”

The Father asked, “And be there any wee little ones yet?”

She replied, ‘No, not yet, Father.’

The Father said, “Well now, I’m going to Rome next week and I’ll light a candle for ye and yer hoosband.”

She replied, “Oh, thank ye, Father.” They then parted ways.

Some years later they met again. The Father asked, “Well now, Missus McGervey, how are ye these days?”

She replied, “Oh, very well, Father!”

The Father asked, “And tell me, have ye any wee ones yet?”

She replied, “Oh yes, Father! Three sets of twins and 4 singles, 10 in all!”

The Father said, “That’s wonderful! How is yer lovin’ hoosband doing?”

She replied, “Oh, ‘e left. Told me ‘e’s goin’ to Rome to blow out ye feckin’ candle!”

The last two weeks have been pretty much nothing but stressful, all because of a near disaster, which turned into a close call. Long story short, I can stay living where I’m at…thanks to Mellodi Parks, matthew rappaport and Laurie DesAutels for being there and listening when I was down.

And, on an even lighter note…

Sorry to be all secretive, we’re just getting all the bells and whistles working right now.

I suppose I’m late to chime in on this…

I suppose I’m late to chime in on this…

Let’s get real. I think something to keep in mind as we form online relationships, is that everything isn’t always okay with everyone, all the time.

But it is okay to be yourself.

Okay to vent

Okay to whine sometimes a little about how one thing or another in your life isn’t going well.

Okay to not always be the most positive beaming ray of sunshine.

We’re human. We have emotions. We share them in our communications, perhaps not always the best way, but they can be resolved through listening to others, having discussions or even just someone saying, “It’s okay, we all have days like that, I understand.” or, “Hope things are going better soon, let me know if you want to talk about it”.

I’ve heard people say, “Fake it ’til you make it” … but is that always true? What does faking anything get us, besides trouble, usually?

We need to start being real and stop this idea that everything we talk about, post about and share has to be the best, the most remarkable, or even just always positive. I’m not saying we should all constantly complain about things. I’m simply saying we need to just realize we’re all just human. What we feel, what we say, to ourselves and others, it’s all part of the human experience.

Everything we do and write and share isn’t going to be earth-shattering, friggin’ fantastic, or even just hunky-dory. It shouldn’t be. I don’t know where or how the idea originated, that this has become some sort of standard. There needs to be a discussion about the way we network, and how real we can be without thinking there’s going to be a negative stigma because of it.

Is your computer “male” or “female”?

1. Open Notepad

2. Type the following line in notepad:

CreateObject(“SAPI.SpVoice”).Speak”I love you”

3. Save file as computer_gender.vbs in any location

4. Run the file by double clicking on it…

(comment on your result – listen to it and figure it out!)
