Kiss My Sass

Earlier this year, had the pleasure of meeting a beautiful cat belonging to a girlfriend.  Upon visiting her and petting her a few times, I found I wasn’t allergic!  That was a good feeling knowing that there was a breed (or perhaps type) of cat that I might possibly own in the future.

What a cute face!

Her name is Queen, and I’ve had her for just a short while now.

She was living where there were 2 dogs (both hyper, yip-yap types) and she did not care to be around them, so she only came out at night, and rarely.  So she did not have a lot of human interaction.  My friend’s 5-year old daughter was very happy to have a cat, but not one that didn’t come out to play very much, or be around the house when all the dogs and people were out.  They were worried that it wasn’t the proper home for her, so when I was on the phone with my friend one night, who seemed concerned enough to want to find her a new home, I asked her if I could take care of Queen.  It seemed like a perfect match, since I had been wanting some animal companionship for a long time, and also since I wasn’t allergic to her.

It took my friend’s daughter some convincing.  It was her cat, after all.  One day, a couple weeks later, I came home from being gone all day, to hear a message on my answering machine from the little girl.  All it said was, “You can have the cat, you can have Queen. Do you want her? OK, bye!”

She ran off a couple weeks ago, and stayed gone a long time.  My friend was worried that she might run off again, so when they did find her, she was brought over right away, to my house, where she seems pretty content to have the place to herself for the most part.

If you are on Facebook, here are photos of her, for you to look at and comment on.

If not, here they are:

She decided one night, to be so bold as to jump up onto my hi-top kitchen table.

Sassy girl on my table

Look at that pouty puss!

Queen is a little rough around the edges, as she was really matted (being a Persian, they are prone to that sometimes). But she’s had a good clipping, and her coat will grow back nice and full in no time.

Leaning in for a little pettin’

She can be very sweet and affectionate

She is also very talkative, and when I come through the door after being gone (even if it’s just going to get the mail), she comes out from wherever she’s been, and meows at me for a few minutes.  She’ll usually be in whatever room I’m in (except she doesn’t come to my room or lie on my bed when I go to sleep at night, which is good, I don’t need cat hair all over my bed).  She also likes to come up to me when I’m working at my desk, and meow at me for a bit, usually to get some lovin’s and pettin’s
